“Asthma Attack” is a short film that I produced and edited as part of a team of five for my Digital Storytelling class last semester. I used DaVinci Resolve 18 for the majority of the editing process and imported the project to Adobe Premiere Pro for some final color grading.
The story is both comedic and dramatic as it follows two students, Ashley and Jay, who share a class together. Jay has a crush on Ashley, however she bullies him in front of the whole class, particularly about his weight and his asthma. When Jay overhears Ashley talking about a dating app she uses, he devises a plan to sign up for the app using fake photos. The two quickly match with each other on the app and start texting each other frequently. Things seem to be going well for the two, until Ashley’s relentless bullying drives Jay to insanity!
Jay asks Ashley to finally meet up, but when they do, Ashley is not pleased to learn she has been texting Jay the entire time. As she tries to escape, she starts to have an asthma attack, and Jay stabs her, leaving her to die. As Jay walks away, he too has an asthma attack and dies, gasping for breath.
Starring Jayden Spence and Vianny De La Cruz. Directed by Shanice Wilcox.
