For my Visual Effects class, I was instructed to make two short videos in After Effects demonstrating color effects and distortion effects.
For this clip, I used a single composition. I began with footage of the dog on a grass yard and used a Keylight effect to remove the grass. I then applied a color shift on this layer to make the dog and the leaves appear black and red. I added a new layer with footage of the flames and ashes, and masked this behind the dog footage. To finish off the clip, I added a red spotlight and a solid black layer with an animated mask to get the effect in the upper left corner.
For this clip, began with a still image of the mountains and trees in the foreground. I created a mask around the mountains and removed the sky that was initially in the image. I added my own footage of moving clouds and used feathering to gradually blend the sky into the mountains. I then added my footage of the dogs into the sky with an animated mask. For finishing touches, I added a lens flare and a spotlight.
